A Fresh Start For 2018

I generally don't make New Year's resolutions as I live with the philosophy that every day is filled with infinite opportunities to improve how we live. There is no point waiting for a specific date to make change, basically start doing it right now. I constantly encounter people who put health, fitness and nurtition very low on their priority list behind work, family, social commitments etc.

It's a strange thing that human's do, and I find it really sad thar for a lot of people to start making changes it has to take a rapid deteriation of their health first. Prevention is the best remedy and now is the time to make a llife changing commitment to implementing healthy lifestyle choices into your daily routine. This should start with good nutrition, good movement and mindfulness. It's also very important to get adequate rest and recovery where possible.

When I say 'good movement', this isn't about doing strenuous exercise, as a Functional Movement Specialist, Personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor I like to show people how to engage the correct muscles and maintain good posture so as to lessen the chances of injury through exercise. This is of prime importance and a lot of exercise programs and group fitness classes completely miss this and I see a lot of people pick up unnecessary injuries because of this.

In life we have to accept that we have absolutely no control over the things that will happen, of course we can make calculated decisions that will lessen stressful situations. But we stil can only have 100% control over our own responses to the things that happen to us but we have no control over things that are caused by external factors. So no matter what challenges you face in life it will be how you respond to them that will dictate the amount of stress you put on your body.

We will all encounter challenging times including, injjuries, health conditions, family commitments, financial difficulty, work deadlines, loss of job etc as this is part of life. It is during these times that it is even more important to keep your healthly life style choices a priority but all too often I see people drop them completely or put them lower on the priority list and it always to their detriment. Remember that every challenge brings with it the opportunity for personal growth.

Over the period between the last week in December and the start of each New Year it is a time when people look back and reflect on the yesr past and make plans to set resolutions. Make a solid commitment to make some real lifestyle choices that will have a profound effect on your long term health. At Plant Based Life we are here to help and assist you on every step in ths journery so please don't hesitate to get in contact.

In the meantime spend some time just 'being', try to limit the thinking mid and live in the moment more as this is the first step to major shift in your consciousness and wellbeing. I also cannot over-emphasise the importance of eating as much fresh raw vegetables and fruits is for transforming your quality of health. Start with small changes and let's make 2018 the year of rapid change :
