Right Now it is more important than ever to support farmers who are growing organic fruits and vegetables. The big supermarkets are treating them really badly and putting huge markups on the cost of the food they grow,

Unfortunately if the supermarkets decide to buy food to sell from a farmer they do not pay them accordingly,.and they add a huge markup on the cost of this produce to the customers I cannot stress how important it is to deal direct with farmers or with food co-ops that deal direct with farmers. It is always best to buy produce local and in season, we have got to know several farmers at the Yandina Markets on the Sunshine Coast and we order our produce and pick it up there each week.

We all have to embrace living in a more sustainable way to live, and if you don’t have the capacity to grow your own fruit and vegetables then this is the next best approach. We don’t want to get reliant on the big food corporations and supermarkets for our food, because you have no idea of the source of the food and what herbicides / pesticides and other chemicals have been used in the growing of these fruits and vegetables.

We need our food to be as close to as nature intended as possible, and not heavily processed with chemicals sprayed on them. It’s also extremely important that the soil that these vegetables and fruits grow in is rich in minerals so that the plants grow vibrantly and are nutrient rich. If you are on the Sunshine Coast we highly recommend going to the Yandina Markets, and visit Jim’s stall where he sells produce from his farm; https://www.lighthouseregenerativefarm.com/

At the Lighthouse Regenerative farm they also offer courses in syntropic farming so you can learn how to grow your own fruits and vegetables in a very sustainable way.
